mHealth, self-responsibility and justice

The ethical discussion about the social determinants of health and individual responsibility so far has not addressed the influence of mobile health technologies. The focus is on ethical questions concerning access to technologies, data ownership and data security. However, ethically relevant questions about individual responsibility and social justice also arise for mHealth: is there an increasing trend towards individualisation and personal responsibility? What influence would such a trend have on social justice, disadvantaged groups and solidarity in health? The aim of the project is to analyse potential negative as well as positive implications of mHealth technologies in a normative way.
